Track and Flangeway Cleaning

Friends of the SMVRR gathered this Saturday to do some track and flangeway cleaning at and near the Betteravia Industrial Park.
The top picture looks straight down into a flangeway. The top of the rail runs along the top of the picture, and the flangeway is just "below" the rail.
At right, Dennis contemplates the task at hand.
Dennis and Nathan tackle the weeds just south of where the Betteravia Branch takes off from the mainline.
Amtrak boxcars are stored along the Betteravia Branch and in Iremel siding. A bunch more of these boxcars are scheduled to leave this week.
Gary kept the dust flying!

Who knew there was a new water tower in Guadalupe?! It went up a couple weeks ago. That's the Union Pacific mainline in the bottom of the picture.
