Mini Speeder Run

November 10, 2007

A "mini" speeder (motorcar) run was held today on the SMVRR, organized by the North American Railcar Operators Association (NARCOA) Motorcar Operators West (MOW). Here's a downloadable 4-page brochure from NARCOA: Frequently Asked Questions About the Motorcar Hobby.

In this case, mini refers to the fact that this run was for a maximum of 15 speeders (as opposed to the Spring event which attracted over 40 speeders). The organizers stopped by the railroad during the recent Grapes and Grains event in October and got all excited about having this Fall run. It was put together practically overnight!

This run also turned out to be a small fundraiser for the Friends of the SMVRR. Extra seats in the speeders were sold to Friends and other railroad supporters.

If you look carefully, you'll see familiar faces from the Friends, the SLO Railroad Museum, and Bitter Creek.

The safety briefing was held from the rear of the La Condesa.
